The Examiner's Focus: Abstract Technical Support

Because Olwen Wymark specifically asks for a bare stage, examiners want to see how you use lighting, sound, and minimal props to communicate time, location, and emotion. You cannot rely on a realistic set. Every technical design choice must visually or physically support Verity's isolation and the rigid, unfeeling nature of the 1970s care system.

Set Design

The five black chairs, bare stages, and clinical environments.

Costume

Neutral ensemble blacks, 1970s signifiers, and medical uniforms.

Lighting

Harsh fluorescents, isolating spots, and fractured transitions.

Sound

Echoing institutions, overlapping voices, and jarring percussive snaps.
