Brian is the physical manifestation of the group's guilt. The pressure of the cover-up destroys him both mentally and physically, showing the terrible consequences of their actions.

John Tate attempts to rule through intimidation and physical threats. However, the hesitation ("or something") reveals his deep insecurity and his inability to handle the crisis.

Leah

Leah attempts to act as the moral compass of the group. However, her desperate need for Phil's approval and her fear of the pack ultimately stops her from actually doing the right thing.

Cathy

Cathy represents the horrifying apathy of youth culture that Kelly is critiquing. She feels absolutely no remorse for Adam, viewing violence and police involvement merely as entertainment.

Power Pack Mentality

"If you don't help us, we'll kill you... You'll land on Adam's corpse and you'll rot together."

Phil to Brian

Phil exerts absolute power by threatening the weakest link. He isolates Brian, using the fear of the pack and the horror of the woods to force compliance.
